The historic upper French River area... When early French explorer Etienne Brulé first set foot in this area in 1610 his mind was on the fur trade. Though the French fur trade has long since disappeared, this area is still a wilderness noted for its great fishing. Unlike Brulé, you won't have to arrive by canoe or hire native American guides to find us. You can go by plane or car and travel in style. The Casa Blanca Lodge is situated on the 50,000 acre Upper French River just above the Chaudiere Dam. Nearby Lake Nipissing is 815 square miles and connects with the French River which empties into the Georgian Bay.
